Know Your Yardages & don't let LOFT affect your
Performance!
One of the areas that Amateur golfers are worst at is clubbing
themselves properly. Go on Tour and you will see every player with
a yardage book and notes on exactly how far they hit each club.
Almost all amateur players take a guess when it comes to
distances, normally remembering the best shot they ever hit with a
particular club and measuring themselves off that rather than
basing it on their average hit - as a result most player's shots
tend to come up short unless they hit a career shot.

One key element of a golf club that is very often overlooked is
the variability in loft. It is becoming increasingly evident that
different models measure different lofts, which is the reason why
clubbing can be compromised, even within the same brand of
club.
Therefore players can gain or even lose on average a club in
distance, without changing anything other than buying new clubs
"off-the-shelf".
By running through all the clubs with the launch monitor, the
guesswork can be taken out of your clubbing as each club can be
tracked and mapped against one another to see how far each club
goes.
This will allow you to play your shots to the greens with more
certainty of how far they will actually fly, increasing the amount
of greens hit and giving more par or birdie putts rather than
recovery shots (or shots from the drop zone when playing over
water!).
It can also highlight any gaps you have in the bag which can
then potentially be addressed by altering the lofts on existing
clubs or looking at alternative club types to ensure that gap is
filled.
